Summer Term 2023

Week Commencing 3rd July 2023

Another busy week of rehearsals for all.

This week also saw us all compete in our Key Stage 2 Sports Day with the winners on the day "RASHFORD"

We also took a trip to Skegness as our end of year fun day.  The day included LaserTag which got very competitive, Escape rooms (No one was left locked in!!!!) and the Arcades where the children had an opportunity to try out some of the virtual games. 

Week Commencing 26th June 2023

A busy week of play rehearsals for all of Year 6. 

This week also saw a couple of the children take dance exams as part of the Academy of Arts.

The children also got to experience a day at their chosen Secondary Schools.

Week Commencing 19th June 2023

Another week of play rehearsals its coming on really well!

We also went swimming as usual on Wednesday and have been practising for Sports Day which is fast approaching.

We are still continuing our learning in French.

Week Commencing 12th June 2023

We have been rehearsing our play (both the singing and acting) and discovering that we have some amazing actors in our midst.

This week also saw us dressing as Rock Stars and rocking to the music provided by Rokz Kidz.

In English we have been writing instructions on 'How to catch a witch!'.  We have also learnt about light and shadows in science and Humanists and Atheists in RE.

Week Commencing 5th June 2023

Well we have made it to our last term at Church Lane Primary School.

We all got given our parts for our play and we are all really excited!

This week we have also continued with our English writing. Creating a narrative piece of writing which started with us falling asleep in class..... We were able to use our wild imaginations for this piece.

We also learnt about how we see in science, all about Panama in Geography and Buddhists in RE. Finally ending the week with a big water fight! or our very own Songkran Festival.

Week Commencing 22nd May 2023

This week we have been looking further at Natural Resources across the world in Geography. 

We have been watching the musical "My Fair Lady", discovering that English is not always easy to understand!!!

We have been working on a Diary piece of writing in English.

Auditions have started with some budding dramatic actors in our midsts.

Week Commencing 15th May 2023

We have been looking at Medical History along with Natural Resources in Geography.

We have also been looking at Hinduism in RE. 

Some of us got to go and play cricket at the cricket club too.

We also unveiled our play to everyone in the class and will start auditions next week.

Week Commencing 8th May 2023

What a week!!! We completed our SATS!!!

We also did a bit of Art for relaxation, working on our masterpieces

for our topic or Neo Impressionism, pictures will follow when we complete them. 

We will be counting dots in our sleep!!

Week Commencing 1st May 2023

Another week of practice for SATS, we have been working hard on our Arithmetic with everyone showing great improvement.  We have also been looking at plotting translations and reflections in Maths.

We have continued to explore other texts in Guided Reading answering in depth questions as practice for our SATS next week.

During PE we are working on our Cricket skills and our Swimmining. 

Week Commencing 24th April 2023

We have continued to focus on our Arithmetic skills and have begun looking at SPAG. We have studied co-ordinates this week and the properties of shapes. 

During topic we have been exploring other texts in depth.

Week Commencing 18th April 2023

This week we have started to focus on our arithmetic skills in preparation for SATS. We have focused on our fractions skills as well as looking at angles further in our Maths lessons. 

We have read some poems and some information texts - exploring them in depth together. We have started our new Art topic of Neo- impressionism.
