An excellent week from all the children in class. Well done everyone for all of your hard work in all lessons.

In Maths this week, we have worked on 2-step problems in our Money topic. Excellent work from everyone. They all worked very methodically and this helped with our understanding.
In History this week, we have been looking at 'Why was the Roman Army so Successful?'. The children spent time researching this question and produced a diagram detailing the differences between a Greek Soldier and a Roman Solider.

What an excellent week! Well done to everyone for all of their hard work this week.
In English this week, we have been continuing with deconstructing our poem of 'The River' by Valerie Bloom. The children have been able to explain the features of each stanza and what we would need in order to rewrite the poem. We will be starting this next week. The children worked hard today to create a fact file about Rivers in our world and created some lovely examples which we will be displaying on our working wall.
In Maths this week, we are coming to the end of our Money topic. The children have been working hard to find change from amounts e.g. change I would get if I paid £5 for an item worth £2.56. They have been exposed to a number of different methods in order to work out these questions and should be able to use them in their homework on Purple Mash this week.
In History this week, we have been looking at 'Why did the Romans invade Britain?'. The children really enjoyed looking at the different reasons but mostly enjoyed looking at the Roman soldiers uniform.
In Science this week, we have been looking at the question 'Are all sounds the same?' The children were able to select instruments to conduct an experiment to answer this question. We had some very musical individuals in class this week.
Well done to everyone for a fantastic week. Have a lovely bank holiday and we will see you on TUESDAY!

We have finished another fantastic week in Year 4. What a pleasure it has been to teach this class this week.
In English this week, we have been continuing with our new English lessons looking at the poem 'The River' by Valerie Bloom. The children have started to construct and write their own versions of the stanzas of the poem with some excellent examples. Our Star Writer of the week this week came up with the following:
The River's a toddler,
She giggles and hums.
Just like a rockstar,
Beating her drums.
We could have easily given 10 star writers this week with the incredible imagination and creativity shown in class. Keep up the good work everyone!
In Maths this week, we have finished off our topic of decimals. Particularly looking at converting fractions into decimals. E.g. A half = 0.5, a quarter = 0.25. Great work everyone for working so hard to understand this concept. Next week, we will be moving onto our new topic of Money.
Keep up the good work everyone. Another fabulous week all round!
