Autumn Term 2024
PE-Tuesday and Thursday.
WC-9th December
Christmas came to school this week. We began the week finishing off our 3d pop up cards in DT. We can't wait for you to see them! On Thursday we celebrated Christmas dinner day and came to school in our Christmas Jumpers. We also completed our big write where we continued the plot of Aladdin and the Genie.
WC-2nd December
In PE this week we have been learning about map symbols. We played a game in PE which involved matching map symbols with the correct words. It was a fun was for us to jump into map work and we became quite competitive. Then we designed maps of our schools for our friends to use in next weeks lesson.
WC-25th November
This week we started our new narrative genre on Aladdin. We read a beautifully illustrated book about Aladdin and the Genie. Our experience day involved looking at Aladdin's character and how he changed throughout the story. In History we learnt about the Magna Carta and why Lincoln Castle was important during this time.
WC-18th November
In our learning this week we have looked at how Mountains are formed. We found this really interesting. We delved into the digestive system of some of our favourite animals in our big write and published our own magazines for other children. Mrs Jones was amazed with our work.
WC-11th November
This week we began our learning on mountains. We took a journey to the top of Mount Everest and looked at some of the highest summits in the world before placing them on a map. In PE we have been enjoying some problem solving in Orienteering and practicing our hockey skills.
WC- 4th November
Welcome back Year 4. We hope you had a lovely half term. This week we began our new writing genre which is all about the Digestive System. The children are also learning about this in Science so by the end of it we will have digestive experts!! In History we continued to learn about Lincolnshire and delved into the makings of Lincoln Castle.
WC-14th October
WOW! What a lovely week to end our term. We did our final big write of the half term and published our poems called 'The River'. The children worked incredibly hard on these and came up with some very imaginative metaphors. In math we finished addition and subtraction. On our final day we enjoyed the Halloween disco and came to school in our fantastic costumes.
WC-7th October
On Friday 11th October we had a visit from Sleaford Museum. We learnt all about the history of Sleaford castle and even got to see photos of what it may have looked like. We learnt about King John, who came to Sleaford in 1216 but died shortly after. He had been king for 18 years and died at age 47. It was wonderful to hear the children share their knowledge with the musuem and how much they have enjoyed learning anout the history of Lincolnshire.
WC-30th September
This week we published our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory stories. They were so impressive and one of the children was choses to read theirs in front of the whole school!! In Maths we moved onto addition and subtraction and are getting really good at using our question stems.
WC-23rd September
We have had brilliant fun this week putting our handstands and cartwheels into a short routine. It was lovely to see all the groups confidently performing their routines to the whole class. In Geography, we have looked at food and where the food we eat comes from. It's interesting to see that some of our favourite food comes from all over the world.
WC-16th September
In Year 4 this week, we have really become engrossed in our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory writing. We have shared some lovely ideas and our class model is really coming together. In History we learnt about the Bass Maltings and it was really interesting to hear about some of Sleaford's heritage.
WC-9th September
This week we have jumped straight into our writing on Charlie and the Choclate Factory. The children have an incredible imagination and doing an amazing job in our chotting sessions. In Maths we have partitioned 4 digit numbers, using lots of manipulatives to support us. We saw some brilliant hand stands in PE and moving forward we will develop these into small sequences.
