Spring Term 2025

 

Week commencing 10th February

This week we have been super busy finishing off all of our different units of work and taking part in our mini quizzes to see what we can remember from this term.

We have been exploring the lake district further this week, looking at what makes it so special and how it is similar and different to Lincolnshire.

We have been looking at the achievements of the Indus Valley in History and considering how their technological advances have supported the modern world.

In Art we have continued our unit on drawing and this week have used 2D shapes to create our own images, using sketching to add definition and detail.

In Music this week we have been exploring the different classifications of instruments and had lost of fun playing lots of types of instruments.

 

Week commencing 3rd February

This week we have started our new English unit on narratives- reading the story the star in a jar. We have been exploring the different features of the text looking powerful adjectives and precise verbs. We have also explored the different theories between why stars exist and what they mean to different people.

In maths we have moved on to look at length and measure. We have been working hard on our ruler and measuring skills this week, using mm, cm and m.

In our afternoons we have been looking at the story of the prophet Muhammad. We have continued to look at the features of the lake district, this week looking at the human features and tourist attractions. In art this week we have been looking at how we can deconstruct images into 2D shapes.

 

 

Week commencing 27th January 2025

This week we have been planning, drafting, editing and publishing our recipes on  how to make a jam sandwich for our English unit on instructions. We have worked really hard and the sandwiches are perfection!

In Maths we have finished our unit on Multiplication and division, looking at how to divide with remainders using the short division method.

In our afternoon sessions we have been looking at Akhlaq in RE, considered the achievements of the Ancient Sumer in History and looked at different types of Invertebrates in Science.

 

Week beginning 20th January 2025

This week we have been super busy becoming authors, planning and starting our own recipe page on how to make a jam sandwich as part of our writing unit on instructions.

In maths we have continued to use our knowledge of multiplication to begin to look at dividing using the short division method.

In the afternoons this week we have been busy learning about teamwork in PE. Have learnt how to send emails in computing and have looked at the different physical features of the Lake District in Geography.

 

Week commencing 13th January

This week we have been consolidating our understanding of multiplication by using the formal written method to multiply two-digit and one-digit numbers.

In English we have continued to learn how to grow a strong mind by writing our sets of instructions on healthy mind sets.

In the afternoons we have been looking at the different types of vertebrates in science and looked at overcoming challenges in PSHE. This week we have also started our new RE unit on Islam, looking at the importance of Tawhid and Shahadah.

 

Week commencing 6th January

We have had a great first week back this week.

We have started our new English unit on How to grow a strong mind, where we will be looking at how to write instructions.

In maths we are continuing to look at multiplication and division and are working hard on our times tables.

We have also started to look at the Lake District in geography comparing the county of Cumbria to Lincolnshire.

In History we have started to look at Ancient civilisations, considering why they are all located on a river.

We also have a fantastic time on Friday taking part in Rock Kidz.
