Football v William Alvey

On Thursday 17th October, the Church Lane Football team played their first league match on they year, hosting William Alvey. The game saw some excellent Football from both teams. The final score was 4 v 1 to Chruch Lane. An fantastic win! Well done to all who played, a big well done to Joseph for being awarded player of the match.

Netball v William Alvey

On Tuesday 15th October, the Church Lane Netball team played their first league fixture in the new Netball league. The team was pretty much a completley new team from last year, with some new faces joining Netball, a great opportunity for them to represent the school. As you can imagine, there were a lot of nerves going into the game, especially as we had a fairly young side, with two players from Year 4, three from Year 5 and only 2 from Year 6.

The game started well, with both teams evenly matched. Church Lane took a while to settle in, but both teams were able to get the ball into the semi-circle and have chances on goal, Amy and H both having attempts. It took the majority of the quarter for a team to score, but it was William Alvey who maged to net two before the quarter was over.

We play a Primary School version of Netball, called 'Bee Netball', so after each quarter player rotate positions, this allows the players to experience different positions. The second quarter saw Church Lane defend well, Amy and H blocking the shooters really well, with support from Caitlynn. Church Lane had less attempts on goal, but were able to prevent William Alvey from scoring too many...they only got one past us in fact!

In the third quarter, Church Lane attacked well with Cyril and Caitlynn teaming up with Ellen to provide plently of shooting opportunities. William Alvey played a strong quarter and were able to net another two.

The final quarter and the final rotation, Amy and H again linking up well, with Ellen also in a shooting position. Church Lane again had plently of opportunities, but were unsucessful. Caitlynn and Cyril defended well and William Alvey were only able to score the one goal this time.

Final score William Alvey 6 v 0 Church Lane. Player of the match, as voted by William Alvey, H for excellent resilience.

Friendly Football Match v Winchelsea Primary School

On Tuesday 24th September, Church Lane played host to Winchelsea Primary School in a friendly football match. The Football league has not started yet, so both schools seized the opportunity to allow the teams to put their skills into practice!

It was a close game, with both teams having a number of chances and both goal keepers making some great saves. Final score, Church Lane 2 v 5 Winchelsea.
